The day has finally come: Chelsea Manning is being released! Since May 2010 Chelsea has been in prison for exposing the costs and inhumanity of war. She risked everything to do what she felt was right. Share your inspiration and commitment with Chelsea below. We will make sure she receives it. At these moments of victory, it is important to let the inspiration refuel our own commitments.
Chelsea, thank you so much for your courageous act in opening the eyes of the world to the costs of lives and treasure that war brings us. And, thank you, too, for all you've been going through since having taken that action. Please know that, at least in our hearts, we are not only your allies, we are your accomplices!
I just saw John Kiriakou on Democracy Now! and I admire him greatly, but I admire you even more. I hope to meet you some day. If you ever tour the country, I hope you will come to Omaha, and you can count on me to make your stop here a huge success. Much love, Frances Mendenhall
Chelsea, I grew up in the military with a colonel father in military intelligence. What you did was so brave and so inspiring to me that I wrote a play about you, "Whistle-blower," which was a semifinalist at the O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. Thank you for your courage. xoxo Juliay
Chelsea, we all owe you a huge debt of gratitude. Thank you for your courage, and may the remainder of your days be brimming with joy, Love, and peace!
Dear Chelsea, thank you for giving us the information we deserve and for persevering under such difficult prison conditions. sending you gratitude and hugs. So delighted you are "free at last, free at last, thank god, free at last!" xx Medea
Transparency is the key to democracy.
Chelsea, it's because I'm inspired by your sacrifice and dedication that I and others like me keep going. You are our northern star, our guiding light. Despite all the Obama administration threw at you, despite all the human rights violations you suffered through, you're still here kicking and screaming. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. Your dedication has done more than you could possibly know. Peace, Chelsea. Enjoy your freedom and a nice long vacation before returning to the struggle. We love you!
