CODEPINK Brings Hundreds to DC for a Free Palestine March and Rally
WASHINGTON, D.C. - In a powerful display of solidarity, CODEPINK and members from across the country will gather in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, November 4th, to demand an immediate end to the brutal siege of Gaza and the cessation of all U.S. aid to Israel. With Gaza under constant bombardment and its people deprived of basic necessities, the urgency to act has never been greater.
Israel's relentless assault on Gaza is just the latest chapter in its ongoing colonial project, aimed at displacing Palestinians from their ancestral lands. The consequences have been devastating, with countless lives lost and the population subjected to unimaginable suffering. It is imperative that we unite and take a stand against this grave injustice.
The National March on Washington: Free Palestine is expected to draw tens of thousands of passionate individuals who refuse to turn a blind eye to the atrocities being committed. Together, they will amplify the call for an end to U.S. financial support for Israel and the immediate lifting of the Gaza blockade. CODEPINK’s Palestinian organizer, Nour Jaghama, will be speaking at the rally. CODEPINK members are coming from California, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Washington State. Chantal O’Brien is joining CODEPINK in D.C. from New York City.
"I'm marching for my loved ones in Gaza and all those who are crushed under the weight of the western world's imperialistic pursuits,” said Chantal on a recent community call. In the days since the siege and bombardment that has killed over 8,000 people, she has spent every day anxiously awaiting to hear from her friends in Gaza to see if they survived another day. “The occupation of Palestine brought decades-long misery to innocent people,” she continued.
Tragically, the weapons used to perpetrate this genocidal massacre are funded by American taxpayers. Thousands of innocent Palestinians have been murdered by bombs, bullets, and missiles, all paid for with U.S. tax dollars. This must end. The U.S. government's unwavering support for Israel's actions in Gaza is unconscionable. As the death toll rises and the humanitarian crisis worsens, it is clear that immediate action is needed to halt this bloodshed.
“It’s crucial that we show up in huge numbers for the March on Washington for Palestine to show our government that they are acting against the interests of their citizens! Americans do not support the genocide in Palestine, we do not support the occupation, yet we are being robbed of our own resources in order to fund this oppression,” said CODEPINK organizer, Nour Jaghama. “We need to show our government that we are outraged at them for forcing us to participate in such a disgusting and devastating attack on humanity. As Americans, we have a responsibility to our brothers and sisters in Palestine to fight for them however we can, and showing up on Nov 4 is a very important and necessary way for us to do that,” she continued.
CODEPINK and its allies urge all concerned citizens to join them in Washington, D.C. on November 4th to demand justice for the besieged people of Palestine. We must send a powerful message that the world will not tolerate Israel’s continued oppression and violence inflicted upon the Palestinian people.
