CODEPINK DC Joins Coalition to Protest Targeting of Political Opponents by Trump Administration
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- CODEPINK DC, Metro DC Democratic Socialists of America, and DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression will join a coalition of advocacy groups on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. to protest the Trump administration's actions against political opponents at the Department of Justice, 950 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
The protest is in response to the October 12 raid by Homeland Security Investigations on Representative Ilhan Omar's home, part of an investigation into potential fraud in her immigration paperwork. Omar, a vocal critic of the administration's policies, deems the raid politically motivated and aimed at silencing her and other activists.
CODEPINK, along with community members and local organizations recently targeted by this administration for political dissent, is slated to speak.
The coalition emphasizes the need to protect democratic institutions and civil liberties, rallying against efforts to intimidate marginalized communities and suppress political dissent. Community members are encouraged to participate in solidarity with those affected by these actions.
