CODEPINK Reno to Host Screening of 'Seeds for Liberation' Documentary on October 20, 2026
RENO – CODEPINK Reno is hosting a free public screening of "Seeds for Liberation" on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 5:30-9 p.m. at The Holland Project, 140 Vesta Street, Reno, NV 89502. The film's director, Matthew Solomon, will join the audience via Zoom for the post-screening discussion.
The documentary features interviews with legal scholars, activists, and members of The Black Liberation Army, La Raza Unida, and the Stop Cop City movement. The film looks at the impacts of Israeli and U.S. imperialism and colonialism, delving into the meaning of "Free Palestine" and pathways to its realization.
Maya Delgado, a CODEPINK Reno organizer, emphasized the film's relevance: "The struggle for a free Palestine is not the first—nor is it likely to be the last—fight for liberation. It is important to understand the interconnectedness of the fight for justice and how each movement is built on the foundation of the revolutionaries who came before."
"Seeds for Liberation" emerged from a deep urgency to connect global struggles for justice. The October 7, 2023, events marked a continuation of a nearly eight-decade-long struggle. Director Matthew Solomon aimed to center Palestinian voices within a broader legacy of anti-imperialist and decolonial movements, including Black resistance in the U.S. and Chicano activism. In an era of filtered narratives and state-sponsored erasure, social media has provided direct access to on-the-ground truths. The film poses critical questions: What does solidarity truly look like? How do our struggles for justice—across geography, race, and history—grow from the same seed?
The screening will be followed by a community discussion, allowing attendees to engage with the film's themes and share perspectives. For more information, please contact Maya at CODEPINK Reno at [email protected].
