Avelo Airlines is a small, low-cost airline based in Houston, Texas. In addition to its east and west coast passenger routes, it has added another business deal: flying both domestic and international deportation flights for ICE.
Tell Avelo: Stop flying for ICE. End your deportation contract now!
To: Andrew Levy, CEO of Avelo Airlines
Dear Mr. Levy,
We are writing to demand that you immediately terminate your contract with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and end your participation in deportation
By partnering with ICE, Avelo is enabling and profiting from the violent separation of families. Your planes are being used to transport immigrants, including children, pregnant women, and asylum seekers, into danger, often without due process, legal recourse, or even a chance to say goodbye. These flights are cruel, secretive, and in many cases, unlawful.
Deportation flights have been used to shackle teenagers, restrain pregnant women, and deport nursing mothers without their infants. They tear people from their communities in the middle of the night and fly them to countries ravaged by poverty, violence, and, in many cases, U.S.-imposed economic sanctions. This is not humanitarian. It is not just. And it is not the role of a company that markets itself as “family friendly.”
You publicly admitted that the decision to fly for ICE is “controversial” but “too valuable not to pursue.” Choosing to profit from state violence is a deliberate choice and a moral failure.
We urge you to cancel your ICE deportation contract immediately!
Your role in this system will not go unnoticed. Until Avelo ends its relationship with ICE, the public will continue to speak out, organize, and hold you accountable.
Sincerely,
