No Peace for Power: CODEPINK Disrupts Samantha Power USAID Testimony AGAIN
WASHINGTON – Three CODEPINK peace activists disrupted Samantha Power's testimony, the second disruption of the United States Agency for International Development’s administrator today. This afternoon's disruption occurred at the Foreign Affairs Committee Hearing titled "USAID's Foreign Policy and International Development Priorities in the Era of Great Power Competition."
Jennifer, Samantha Bolte, and David Barrows each took an opportunity after Power's testimony to hold her accountable for not rightfully naming the genocide in Gaza and not using her power and influence to end it. They were forcibly removed from the hearing and arrested.
"Will Samantha Power continue to be a bystander and be complicit in genocide? Or will she, in her own words, be an upstander to stop the genocide?" asked Jennifer Koonings.
Earlier today, another CODEPINK peace activist disrupted Power, resulting in their arrest.
CODEPINK has no plans to stop these disruptions, nor does our daily advocacy in Congress. The majority of Americans want an end to the ongoing genocide. That number is growing by the day as more Americans witness increasing evidence of Israel's genocidal actions. Just recently, Sen. Elizabeth Warren recently acknowledged that this is rightfully and lawfully a genocide. The U.S. must end its complicity in Israel's war crimes.
