An op-ed, short for "opposite the editorial page" or as a backronym the "opinions and editorials page", is a written prose piece typically published by a newspaper or magazine which expresses the opinion of an author usually not affiliated with the publication's editorial board. Plenty of articles are written advocating for war, pentagon budget increases, and all around detrimental policies that harm our wellbeing and the earth. Anti-imperialists are creative, brave, and our ideas need to be heard in the mainstream media. Op-eds are an amazing tool for us, and this workshop will cover the basics of writing an op-ed.
Following the workshop, we will do an exercise talking about 9/11 and filling out the Washington Post's form asking readers how 9/11 changed their worldview.
