Join CODEPINK and friends as we participate in the May 1st National Shutdown, a nationwide day of no school, no work and no shopping.
Let us keep a sustained movement for justice and peace! The entire country is shocked and outraged at the brutal killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by federal agents. While Trump and other right wing politicians are slandering them as “terrorists”, the video evidence makes it clear beyond all doubt: they were gunned down in broad daylight simply for exercising their First Amendment right to protest mass deportation. Every day, ICE, Border Patrol and other enforcers of Trump’s racist agenda are going into our communities to kidnap our neighbors and sow fear. It is time for us to all stand up together in a nationwide shutdown/strike and say enough is enough!
CODEPINK chapters are planning to participate in the May 1st Shutdown with local actions and sustained strike education and planning. Sign our pledge, grab our resources and find an action near you!
We, the undersigned, pledge to join the May 1 nationwide shutdown and pledge to join all future collective shutdowns in response to the numerous murders and ongoing aggression by ICE. We will not go to work, school, or buy anything. The demands for the shutdown are:
- No more funding for ICE.
- Justice for all people murdered and detained by ICE.
- ICE out of everywhere.
- Stop ICE terror.
We will continue to take collective shutdown actions until these demands are met.
