Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s Anti-Militarism Legacy

CODEPINK is honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy and remembers his anti-militarism vision in a series of events starting on January 12 in Washington D.C. and ending on January 16th in Los Angeles.

One year before he was murdered, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave a historic sermon at New York’s Riverside Church on the profound connection between US militarism abroad with violence, racial repression, and widespread deprivation on the home front. With the recent passage of the largest U.S. military defense budget of $858 billion and amidst a deadly war in Europe, continuously escalated by the United States, King’s message of pursuing “peaceful ends through peaceful means” is more necessary now than ever before.
