DC Activist Intern

 

CODEPINK is looking for an intern to join our team in Washington, DC! Do you strongly oppose war and want to see our national budget invested in life affirming pursuits like education and healthcare? Do you support Palestinians' human rights and that refugees are welcome? Then join our creative, fun, and energetic working environment to promote peace! 

As an Activist Intern in DC, you will:

* Strengthen your skill sets in creating change both locally and globally

* Gain experience in strategic campaigning by organizing actions and events

* Collaborate with a team of experienced and passionate organizers

The ideal candidate possesses strong writing and communication skills, a passion for social justice work & ending war, some international experience, and the ability to work well both independently and with a team.  

The internship starts in early September and applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis until then. Full-time and part-time positions are available, but interns able to fulfill 32 hours a week will be given a stipend of $1,000 a month.

    WOULD YOU PLEASE ORGANIZE A PROTEST (WITH REQUISITE MEDIA ATTENTION) FOR ALL CONGRESSMEN/WOMEN TO FORFEIT THEIR SALARIES IN SOLIDARITY WITH NOT ONLY FURLOUGHED FEDS BUT CONTRACTORS, VENDORS ET AL WHO ARE ECONOMICALLY IMPACTED BY THIS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN. I SUPPORT MANY OF YOUR ORGANIZATION’S STANDS BUT AM NOW SICKENED THAT THERE IS NO OUTCRY THAT SO MANY ARE EFFECTED BUT CONGRESS PAYS LIP SERVICE WHILE OTHERS ARE PANICKING. WHERE IS YOUR ADVOCACY.I HAVE NOT HEARD YOU OR ANY OTHER SO-CALLED ACTIVISTS DOING ANYTHING TO CALL ATTENTION TO THIS TRAVESTY. GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND DO WHAT YOU DO BEST. FORM A GRASSROOTS EFFORT TO SUGGEST THAT LEGISLATION BE ENACTED THAT ADVERSELY EFFECTS CONGRESS’S PAYCHECK IN THE EVENT OF ANOTHER SHUTDOWN. YOU HAVE YOUR MARCHING ORDERS NOW ACT.
