Dear Biden Administration,

Please reject any attempt by Haitian President Jovenel Moïse to retain power in Haiti. The time for a Haitian-led democratic transition of power is now.

In the last few years, thousands of Haitians have taken to the streets to protest Haiti’s corrupt US-backed President Moïse, who refuses to step down. Moïse and his predecessor are accused of squandering billions in oil revenue provided by Venezuela to support regional development. Please support these brave activists and their mission to remove their corrupt leader.

Also, please name an envoy to oversee the closure of Guantánamo Bay detention camp, the safe resettlement of the prisoners still there, and the elimination of military tribunals. Forty prisoners remain at Guantánamo, some tortured and most never charged with a crime. They all deserve to be released or given due process. Close Guantánamo now.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
[your name]
