We continue to raise up voices and disarm the anti-China rhetoric through the sharing of peace and education. October 14th, we will have another episode of China Is Not Our Enemy with CODEPINK's co-founder Medea Benjamin and Walden Bello, author of comprehensive study called China: An Imperial Power in the Image of the West? This will be a frank and fascinating discussion comparing and contrasting China and the West in their economic relations with the Global South.
Walden Bello is a professor of sociology at the State University of New York at Binghamton and senior research fellow at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies of Kyoto University in Japan. As a human rights and peace campaigner, a former member of the Philippine Congress, academic, environmentalist and journalist, and with an extraordinary breadth of published materials that include 20 books, he has made a major contribution to the international case against corporate-driven globalization.
Medea Benjamin is the co-founder of CODEPINK. She has been an advocate for social justice for more than 40 years. Described as "one of America's most committed -- and most effective -- fighters for human rights" by New York Newsday, and "one of the high profile leaders of the peace movement" by the Los Angeles Times, she was one of 1,000 exemplary women from 140 countries nominated to receive the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the millions of women who do the essential work of peace worldwide. She is the author of ten books, including Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control and Kingdom of the Unjust: Behind the U.S.-Saudi Connection.
