The United States invaded Afghanistan on October 7, 2001. The war and occupation lasted for twenty years, culminating in a disastrous departure in 2021. In the lead up to the invasion, the women of Afghanistan were used as a rhetorical point by people who supported invading. Our webinar with Sayeda Qader, as well as CODEPINK's very own Jenin and Danaka will dive deep into how feminism was used to stoke war and imperialism at the expense of Afghan women and families who had to endure a brutal twenty year military occupation. We will also talk about how similar feminist groups remain silent on the very issues they claim to care about today, at least when it comes to the women of Palestine. This webinar will get to the core of why our feminist movements must be anti-war and rooted in international solidarity.
