Tuesday, January 18 Capitol Calling Party: Biden Year One, What Has He Done?

HAPPENING NOW: JOIN: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85449481333

On Tuesday, January 18, join CODEPINK Congress, John Nichols of The Nation, and David Dayen of The American Prospect as we evaluate Biden's first year in the White House.

There's plenty of change that Biden could make with just the stroke of a pen. During his first term, Biden signed executive orders to end the Muslim travel ban and extend the START Arms Control Treaty for five years - but what about ending arms sales to Saudi Arabia, or taking nuclear weapons off hair trigger alert? There are critical administrative actions that Biden has yet to take that would promote world peace and stability. Join us as we evaluate Biden's foreign and domestic policies during his first year in office and look toward actions he could take with the stroke of a pen in 2022 to advance world peace.

Special Guests:

John Nichols is a pioneering political blogger and writes about politics for The Nation as its national-affairs correspondent. Nichols is the author of Coronavirus Criminals and Pandemic Profiteers: Accountability for Those Who Caused the Crisis (Verso), The Fight for the Soul of the Democratic Party: The Enduring Legacy of Henry Wallace’s Anti-Fascist, Anti-Racist Politics (Verso), Horsemen of the Trumpocalypse: A Field Guide to the Most Dangerous People in America (Nation Books), and The Genius of Impeachment (New Press), a critically acclaimed analysis of the Florida recount fight of 2000.
David Dayen is the Executive Editor of The American Prospect, which tracks the executive orders President Biden has and has not signed -- yet! Dayen is the author of Monopolized: Life in the Age of Corporate Power (New Press) and Chain of Title: How Three Ordinary Americans Uncovered Wall Street’s Great Foreclosure Fraud (New Press), which earned the Studs and Ida Terkel Prize. He was the winner of the 2021 Hillman Prize for excellence in magazine journalism.
