Umer Khalid is on a life-threatening hunger and thirst strike in prison in Britain. Over the past few months, seven more political prisoners have been on hunger strikes, with the longest strike lasting 73 days. They are now re-feeding after ending their strikes. This comes in the context of Elbit Systems’ failure to win a £2 billion ($2.7 billion) contract with the UK government. The hunger strikers have caused a political crisis over the British government’s continued support for Israel – and their struggle continues.
Umer has committed to a thirst strike as his demands have not been met on the 14th day of his protest. A thirst strike is a significant escalation, as humans can only survive 3-4 days without water. He is putting his life on the line – the British government must act.
Send a letter to the British Embassy to urge them to act now!
