SF Bay Area Says No to NATO!

Join us in saying No to NATO! Bay Area CODEPINK will focus our monthly Walk for Peace on opposition to the Cold War dinosaur, NATO, in response to an appeal from European activists organizing a No to NATO conference and protests during the NATO Summit in Warsaw. We will gather for a short rally at the South Plaza of the bridge, walk to the middle of the span, and then return for a longer rally and closing circle. Activists from allied organizations will join CODEPINK.

NATO, established by the US and European powers in 1949, has been obsolete since the Berlin Wall fell in 1989. It is currently destabilizing the border regions through provocative and extensive military exercises on the Russian border.

Please correct the statement “NATO, established by the US and European powers in 1949 to counter the U.S.S.R’s “Warsaw Pact.”” The Warsaw Pact was in fact created in 1955, 6 years later, to defend against the US and NATO threats to violently overthrow the governments of the USSR and Eastern Europe.
