NYC Nonviolence Walk

As part of our commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination, we are helping to organize a NYC Walk for Nonviolence on April 8. We are walking to publicly express our commitment to nonviolence as a daily practice and our rejection of all forms of violence and discrimination.

The Walk will pass 12 miles through Manhattan, beginning at Battery Park and ending in front of Riverside Church, the site of King’s historic “Beyond Vietnam” talk. As we walk, we will also stop (for 10-15 minutes) to honor selected NYC “nonviolence landmarks” and to recognize the many individuals, peoples, and movements who have embraced nonviolence, not only as a tactic for social change but as a foundational principle for life.
