It's official: the U.S. is sending at least three brigades of troops to Afghanistan by summer. Defense Secretary Gates arrived in Afghanistan today and met with a lead U.S. commander David McKiernana, who has requested four additional brigades, including the one scheduled for January deployment, or 14,000 and 20,000 troops. The U.S. military has about 31,000 troops in Afghanistan already.
More troops means escalation and more war. And there is no good war. What can the peace movement do to stop this? Comment away!
