Marcy Winograd volunteers as a co-producer of CODEPINK Radio and Empire on the Rocks podcast, co-anchoring the twice-monthly podcast with Medea Benjamin. A retired English and government teacher, Marcy also coordinates CODEPINK's Drop the ADL campaign and mobilizes for Palestinian rights within teachers' unions, including United Teachers of Los Angeles and California Teachers Association (CTA). Marcy chairs the CTA caucus: Jewish & Allied Educators 4 Palestine and serves as a legislative advocate for Jewish Voice for Peace-Action.
In Santa Barbara, CA, Marcy co-chairs the CODEPINK Central Coast chapter to challenge the expansion of the weapons and surveillance industries.
In 2010, Marcy mobilized 41% of the vote in her primary congressional peace challenge to then incumbent Jane Harman. In 2020, Marcy served as a CA DNC delegate to Bernie Sanders, mobilizing 500 other DNC delegates to challenge the influence of neo-conservatives on foreign policy. During her work on the Bernie campaign, Marcy organized polling locations on almost every college campus in Los Angeles County and Orange County.
Marcy's activism began in high school when she marched against the Vietnam War and later joined the defense team of beloved Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg. Later, she volunteered for the United Farm Workers Union to organize in the grape fields of Delano.
Marcy writes about militarism and foreign policy at TruthOut, Rethinking Schools, Common Dreams, CounterPunch, LAProgressive, and the CODEPINK blog. Together with CODEPINK co-founder Medea Benjamin, Marcy has co-authored "NATO is a warfare alliance, not a global force for peace" (CounterPunch, July 17, 2023) and "Meet the Senate nuke caucus: busting the budget and making the world less safe" (Responsible Statecraft, May 26, 2021). More recently, Marcy authored, ICE and Israel: Two Sides of the Same Coin (TruthOut, Oct., 2025) and co-authored "What's Missing in Holocaust Education?" (Rethinking Schools, Fall issue, 2025).
