CNN: Rehire Marc Lamont Hill

On November 29, 2018, Dr. Marc Lamont Hill was fired from CNN for a speech he gave to the United Nations in support of Palestinian rights.

Help us tell CNN they did the wrong thing. Tell CNN to rehire Dr. Hill!

Dear CNN,

You made the wrong choice by firing Marc Lamont Hill for his speech at the UN, which included the phrase "from the river to the sea." Speaking up for Palestinian rights is not anti-semitic or a threat to Israelis.

As Dr. Hill said in regard to the speech he gave to the UN that caused him to be fired:

“My reference to “river to the sea” was not a call to destroy anything or anyone. It was a call for justice, both in Israel and in the West Bank/Gaza. The speech very clearly and specifically said those things. No amount of debate will change what I actually said or what I meant.”

Dr. Hill’s speech received a long ovation from the diplomats at the UN.

Marc Lamont Hill is a powerful defender of civil and human rights for all people. He is a powerful ally for the Palestinian people who live under siege, under military occupation and under state laws of discrimination.

As people concerned with freedom for the Palestinian people and justice and equality for all people, we ask that you immediately rehire Marc Lamont Hill.

The U.S is held by the balls by Israel. U.S Medias are hypocrites, racist and have double standards-of course Mirroring the U.S foreign policy.

If this respectable, righteous guy had explicitly called for kicking out Palestinians in the West Bank, or even killing them, like some other anti-Palestinian journalists did, it would’ve passed normally. Maybe even promoted in racist CNN.

    Bullshit at its best.

It is the duty of journalists and academics to provide analyses and opinions as well as mere facts, especially when such egregious cases of injustice as that inflicted upon the Palestinian people are involved. Marc Lamont Hill did just that in his U.N. speech. If officials and authorities are able to cow journalists and academics into submission over a party line, such as “Israel is the perennial victim,” what good will they be doing?

Dr. Hill was speaking at the UN within his body of work and expertise in which you (CNN) are aware. Silencing a reseacher, advocate, and academic does not support democratic values nor a land which stands on freedoms. If you uphold this disasterous ill-conceived decision you are informing millions of people they do not have a voice unless it is in agreement with a particular group or needs to be approved. It sickens me that minoritized individuals continuously have the message delivered misrepresented and misconstrued to promote unjust backlash. I have removed CNN from my news feed and will not watch the station nor visit any of its media outlets if this poor decision is upheld. What is the point of Dr. Hill being an advocate for social justice if he cannot weight into a conversation, debate, or forum? Please refrain from changing the meaning of his words and pervert the message. His op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer as well as his original speech are enough to understand the intent. Wanting peace between these two nations does not equate with being anti-Semitic. Isreal can be criticized for actions taken as well as Palestine. Take a deep breath, think, talk, and reconsider your knee-jerk reaction.

Firing a man for expressing what should be mainstream consensus opinion, and is outside of this hyper-propagandize country, about the brutal occupation, blockade and apartheid of Palestinians by the Israeli government and the majority of its citizens is reprehensible. I’d prefer you fire everyone and shut your doors for good, but if you insist on continuing to pump out the state’s imperial mythology, at least keep a token sane black man on air. You can’t fire all your cover CNN…Corporate News Network.
