Join Jodie Evans on August 30th from 6:00-7:30 PT PM to learn about how to cultivate our local peace economy! During this event, Jodie Evans will share two useful local peace economy resources–The Local Peace Economy Workbook and the peace economy website. These tools will help us pivot away from the war economy toward the more beautiful future we know is possible. Come connect with others sowing the seeds of peace in your community!
About The Local Peace Economy Workbook and peace economy website:
The Local Peace Economy Workbook and website were born out of an insight Jodie had after decades of anti-war organizing: we’re not going to end war until we end the war economy. War serves the war economy–the extractive, destructive, oppressive system that is killing us, our communities, and the planet. Along with being in the streets and scratching at the halls of power, we must also be cultivating our local peace economies–the giving, sharing, caring, thriving, relational, resilient systems without which none of us would be alive. While the need to grow local systems of community care is not new, the current genocide in Palestine has only further illuminated the need for local peace economy organizing to be part of our resistance work. Many people are feeling depressed and demoralized as they watch the U.S. continue to fund a genocide against the Palestinian people despite calls from its citizens and people across the world to stop the violence. But we cannot wait for the state to listen to us to start building the beautiful future we want to live in. We have to start now–and, when we do, we experience the joy that’s possible in community that resources us to keep going.
