Aleida Guevara and Vijay Prashad will open the discussion by addressing the importance of building anti-war movements in response to the decadence of the current world order. They will explore the cultural and political conditions of our times and highlight the vital role of students in challenging militarism and advancing peace.

Aleida Guevara March is a Cuban physician, human rights advocate, and author. She is the eldest daughter of Ernesto "Che" Guevara. A prominent advocate for universal health care, she was featured in Michael Moore's documentary Sicko, discussing the philosophy behind Cuba's health system. In addition to her medical career, Guevara is a vocal proponent of debt relief for developing nations and broader human rights causes. She is the author of Chávez, Venezuela, and the New Latin America, a book reflecting on social and political transformations in the region.

Vijay Prashad is an Indian historian, author, journalist and political commentator. He serves as the executive director of the Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research and as the editor of LeftWord Books. Prashad is the author of numerous influential works, including The Darker Nations: A People's History of the Third World, Poorer Nations: A Possible History of the Global South, Letters to Palestine, and On Cuba: Reflections on 70 Years of Revolution and Struggle (co-authored with Noam Chomsky). Through his writing and activism, Prashad explores themes of imperialism, decolonisation, and global solidarity.

Following this, four student organisers from UK universities will join the discussion, engaging with the speakers to explore the intersection of student activism, anti-militarism, and the fight for global justice.
