What is happening in the Congo is terrifying. We want to bring awareness to what is happening and how, we, in the IE are complicit. Nearing the biggest shopping time of the year, we must understand that our dollars are our power. We need to educate ourselves from the source.
The event will include a screening of the film "Mikuba" and a discussion with special guests from the Basandja Coalition: Petna Ndaliko and Samuel Yagase. Petna Ndaliko is an activist filmmaker who has helped to document the not so well covered realities of post-colonial life in Africa. Samuel Yagase is a grassroots leader mobilizing rural communities for justice and dignity in the Congo Basin in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Featuring photography by displaced women (The Mamas) in refugee camps in Eastern Congo.
