Hi, my name is ___________ and I live in zip code ______. I am calling to ask you to oppose President Biden’s $753 billion dollar military budget. Please block funding for a new Marine base on Okinawa, ask for a GAO report on reducing troop and base presence in Okinawa, and call for congressional hearings to prioritize base closures. Please also urge the Biden administration to scrap dangerous plans to station medium-range missiles near China.  Thank you.

Script:

President Biden,

I am asking my Congress person to oppose your increased $753-billion military budget and call for congressional hearings on base closures. In the interest of national, global, and fiscal security, I urge you, President Biden, and Secretary Austin to scrap plans to build a new Marine base on Okinawa, close bases overseas, and relocate military personnel to the United States.

Overseas bases increase military tension. Rather than deterring adversaries, U.S. bases can exacerbate security threats by antagonizing other countries into greater military spending and aggression.

In addition, I urge you to suspend nuclear strike exercises in the South China Sea, scrap plans to station medium-range missiles near China, and sign an executive order declaring an end to the Korean War so you can initiate a peace agreement between the US and North Korea.

Sincerely,
