We’re joining Egyptians Abroad for Democracy, Progressive Democrats of America, along with forty human rights activists based in the USA and in Europe, presenting an open letter to US President Biden, UN Secretary General Guterres and EU Commission President Von Der Leyen, calling for their attendance to COP27 to be conditional on the release of all Egyptian political prisoners and on the guarantee that demonstrations will be allowed to proceed freely.
“COP27 is a rare opportunity to give hope to the Egyptian people and to send a clear message to Al-Sisi. That he will not have the recognition he craves as long as human rights abuses carry on.”
