There are eight political prisoners on a life-threatening hunger strike in British prisons over their inhumane treatment and poor conditions in pre-trial detention. Many of the hunger strikers have been imprisoned for over a year and are still awaiting trial. 14 Members of Parliament and public institutions are calling for urgent action by the British government to meet the demands of the hunger strikers. Their silence has been deafening.
