CODEPINK Bay Area and friends are invited to the Planting Justice "Mother Farm" in El Sobrante to do some farm chores like weeding and mulching, to connect with CODEPINK's Kelly Curry at the farm, to tour the farm with Planting Justice co-founder Haleh Zandi, who says, "I would love to join the CODEPINK group to connect about our local peace economy". Kelly Curry says that Haleh "has been an avid fan and supporter of CODEPINK since her teens."
Planting Justice provides sustainable living-wage jobs, food access and holistic programming for communities impacted by mass incarceration. The Mother Farm is a 4-acre agroforestry ecosystem and sanctuary that demonstrates sustainable design and provides plant stock for the PJ nursery in Oakland. We are really looking forward to seeing the farm, doing some good work, sharing snacks and breathing the fresh springtime air. Prepare to get dirty!
The farm is in El Sobrante, off of Highway 80. If taking BART, go to Richmond Station, take AC Transit Bus #70. Detailed directions will be emailed to participants.
