Tuesday, July 5 Capitol Calling Party: Reaching a Just and Lasting Peace in Ukraine

Reaching a Just and Lasting Peace in Ukraine

RSVP here!

Join Massachusetts Peace Action and CODEPINK Congress for the next Capitol Calling Party on Tuesday, July 5th at 7pm ET.

On June 6-7, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network convened a study group of experts in international affairs, military and security affairs, and international relations among the US, European Union, Ukraine, and Russia, hosted at Vatican City.  The group developed a statement examining the possibility of a negotiated settlement of the Russia-Ukraine war.  It is posted here.

Our speaker, Richard E. Rubenstein, was a participant in the study group and will outline its main recommendations.  He is University Professor of Conflict Resolution and Public Affairs at George Mason University, holding degrees from Harvard College, Oxford University (as a Rhodes Scholar), Harvard Law School, and the University of Malta. A former lawyer, political scientist, and director of the Carter School, he is the author of nine books about various types of violent social conflict and the possibilities of resolving them nonviolently. His most recent book is Resolving Structural Conflicts: Violent Systems and How They Can Be Transformed (Routledge, 2017). Rubenstein teaches grad and undergrad courses on conflict theory and speaks publicly on issues of peace and social justice.

NOTE: this is at a different time and on a different Zoom account than the usual Capitol Calling Parties. Make sure to RSVP here.
