Join CODEPINK at the anti-militarism hub in the streets of NYC on Sept. 17 for the March to End Fossil Fuels! This march aims to bring thousands to the streets to coincide with and support UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres' “Climate Ambition Summit.” We know that for real "climate ambition", we must address the largest institutional polluter in the world, the US Pentagon.
There is a series of actions and events leading up to and following the March (including some events we're planning on Sept. 21, the International Day of Peace). Please fill out this form with your availability so we can plan accordingly!
RSVP to register for the free bus from DC to NYC!
We know that fossil fuels have been and continue to be a primary reason for many of the wars over the last century. We also know that a just transition of clean renewable energy and environmental, social and economic justice for low-income and people & communities of color are essential to world peace.
You can find out more and fill out the organizational endorsement form at https://endfossilfuels.us.
An Anti-Militarism Hub has been formed that brings together a number of peace and justice and climate groups. We will be marching together with our banners, signs and props on September 17. We are supporting the overall march’s demands, as well as these:
- Cut the Pentagon budget by at least $100 billion and shift the savings to Green New Deal, environmental justice and human needs programs each year going forward.
- Report military emissions: The US and all nations must acknowledge and report greenhouse gas emissions from military operations and weapons production.
- Reduce US military emissions 50% by 2030, the Biden Administration’s stated goal for all US emissions.
- Prevent nuclear war, prevent climate meltdown. The U.S. must sign the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
Current location: Serafina Italian Restaurant 210 W 55th St, New York, NY 10019. Meeting time is at 1130AM, marching starts at 1pm
