Lights for Liberty NYC

On July 12th, outraged people from around the country will shine a light on the horrific abuses of the Trump administration in human detention camps. We stand in solidarity & allyship with communities most impacted by the abuse of our immigration system. In NYC, we will focus on divesting from weapons and private prison companies who are fueling these human rights atrocities. #DivestFromWar

Lights for Liberty is working with local organizations who have been doing the work around immigrants’ rights and related issues. Our local hosting organizations are working with people who are directly impacted to curate each vigil. Vigils are seen as a nonviolent way to raise awareness of a cause and to motivate change, as well as uniting and supporting those attending the vigil.

A moment of silence will be held at 9 p.m. with candles (if allowed), battery operated candles, flashlights and phones to shine a light
