#StopLine3: Catching up with my new neighbor, Senator Amy Kloubacher - Cut The Pentagon Day #5

After spending half of the summer in Northern Minnesota, the occupied land of the Anishanabee people, I was excited to come to DC, the occupied land of the Piscataway, Anacostia, and Nacotchtank people to begin organizing with CODEPINK but knew I wanted to continue to be in solidarity with the Indigenous-led resistance to Line3 while not at the camps or on the frontlines. 

On a morning walk around the neighborhood in Capital Hill, I ran into Minnesota’s Senator Amy Kloubacher. She was in town for climate talks and said she is “devoted to doing something on climate”. By starting in her own state, she could push to #StopLine3 the tar sands oil pipeline that would pollute our planet more than Minnesota's entire economy. We need to fight the war economy that drives much of the oil and gas industry (the Pentagon is the largest consumer of oil in the world), exploits Indigenous communities, prioritizes profit over the people, and lines the pockets of war-profiteers. There’s no better way to take care of the people– ALL the people– and planet than by cutting the Pentagon and investing in our communities!
