Climate Emergency Blockade - Cut the Pentagon Day #61

This morning, in response to “world leaders” doing next to nothing at COP26, we joined Extinction Rebellion to get in the way of “business as usual” and blockaded one of the busiest intersections in DC.

Four activists locked on to the notable XR boat blockade (it was pink this time and a rif to Joe Manchin’s “Almost Heaven” yacht he lives in). Instead, heaven was crossed out, reading “Almost Hell”. I joined those who soft-blockaded with banners reading “Climate Emergency,” “Congress Act Now”.

While backlash was expected for the inconvenience during rush hour, the action aimed to shed light on how the climate crisis is more than an “inconvenience” for frontline communities right now and all of us in the future.

The US addiction to oil is a direct correlation of our addiction to militarism and imperialism.
