Outside the Capital, Congress comes and goes as they have been in negotiations for the Build Back Better Act for weeks. This week they are set to vote on BBB and the NDAA. While Build Back Better continues to be cut because “how do we pay for it”, the only Senator pledged to vote “no” on the NDAA is Bernie Sanders.
While joining in a student-led sit-in on the Capital lawn, we were alerted that the House Republicans were having a press conference on the Capitol steps. Amidst Kevin McCarthy and other Reps. spewing lies about the “socialist agenda” - saying it was a “national security threat”, and proceeding to go on racist and xenophobic rants about people in Yemen (yeah, they went there during this), I couldn’t hold back my rage.
Because it was out in the open I began to call out the hypocrisy of supporting the most expensive military budget ever vs. the Build Back Better agenda (which is such a compromise as is).
Watch to see how it went!
