This morning I joined friends from Arm in Arm, Extinction Rebellion DC, and IPS for a vigil and direct actions outside of the Army Corps of Engineers (where the permitting of Line 3 has been approved). Together we took time to reflect on the recent news of the cuts in Build Back Better spending, and our experiences on the frontlines of Line 3. We then chalked outside the doors of the Army Corps, wheat-pasted the surrounding area, and planted some kale by way of gorilla gardening. It felt good to be in community with close friends, and to be part of something bigger as local actions were happening across the world in solidarity with those resisting the hypocrisy of world "leaders" convening in Glasgow.
In order to move away from the extractive economy, we must continue to expose the relationship between the military and the fossil fuel industry.
