We gathered with interfaith leaders from across the DMV alongside folks impacted by climate, immigration, labor, and care legislation on the importance of not negotiating an already compromised bill that will actually help people and the planet (AND pay for itself) unlike the NDAA bill (that is double the cost).
Bernie Sanders spoke on what is at stake and minutes after he left, the Capital police demanded we disperse and “not walk together while singing”. What was supposed to be a march to Joe Manchin’s houseboat where interfaith leaders would speak again pressuring the senator to act on behalf of his constituents instead of corporations, was cut short in order to keep those in attendance safe due to the intimidating police presence.
