Tonight 80 young folks gathered at Busboys in Poets in Anacostia, MD where DC-based poets, comedians, singers, activists, and a live painter came together for peace and end militarism, racism, colonialism, and imperialism that hurts and harms working class people and the environment.
Now more than ever we need to build a peace movement, and artists are at the core of any movement.
Performers included spoken word poets Beyond Your Definition and Libre X. Sanaka, poets Tai, Audrey, and Reb, comedians Jaffer Khan, Gaston and Leo Nguyễn, World Beyond War’s executive director David Swanson and many more. The stage was adorned with art from Monica of ActivateLabs and Kiki’s live painting.
Despite what’s all going on in the world, coming together in artistic ways is important to sustain the work for peace.
