Thanks to D.C. locals, we collected over 100 winter wear items including coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, and scarves as the temperatures in D.C. continue to go below freezing. In the richest country in the world, we should not have folks on the streets, we should have systems of care that provide every human with basic needs of housing, quality food, healthcare, and access to good, green jobs.
To end violence and dependence on the war economy and create the beautiful world that we so long to live in, we must radically reimagine and transform our relationships so they are defined by love, and compassion. Growing local peace economies is a revolution of values and practices. In 2022, we will be working to support more local groups who focus on community and mutual aid.
