As tens of thousands are expected to come to D.C. for the annual “March For Life”, we got a group together after ShutDownDC made a call for art to be put out across the city, mainly along the march route, abortion clinics, and hotels where forced birthers expect to be staying.
We were stopped by cops, who threatened us with a felony for “defacing property” with paper, corn, starch and water…..
The symbolism of us scraping away vaginas as a group of 8-10 cops watched over us, was eerily symbolic of the broader state of society and where we are headed. One told us “we could have gotten more creative with our messaging” yet when asked if he denounced the white supremacy, he “couldn’t comment.”
Nevertheless, posters and stickers have been put across town in solidarity with those whose rights have been stripped away, especially the poor and low income people, disproportionately BIPOC and those in rural areas.
A deep gratitude to abortion providers and clinic escorts who will experience higher levels of intimidation this week in D.C.
