CODEPINK NYC Coordinator Yousef Zakaria and over a hundred people rallied in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn Friday afternoon for Palestinian Day of Resistance.
Speakers represented organizing Palestinian and international solidarity groups from Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Kashmir demanding that Israel stop the annexation, halt the occupation and guarantee the right of return to all Palestinians, as well as, for the U.S. to stop using our tax paying money to cozy up with Israel and repressive regimes. The rally was followed by an hour march with many community members showing solidarity along the way from their windows. Protesters connected chants from: From Palestine to Mexico, all the walls have got to go, to, Black Lives Matter, to, not another buck, not another dime, no more support for Israel's crimes.
The U.S. DHS enforces its border militarization policy called “Prevention Through Deterrence” using tested and proven surveillance technology Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons company, supplies to Israel to aid their separation wall in the West Bank and their siege of Gaza. That's why we also ask you to call on Congress to Divest from Elbit!
