It’s Spring, which for most creatures means a season of bright colors and renewal. For those of us holding the corporate world accountable, it’s also AGM season – and BlackRock’s Annual General Meeting is just around the corner. On May 24th, peace and climate justice allies will gather at BlackRock’s corporate headquarters in Hudson Yards and rally outside as shareholders vote whether or not advance more investments in war and climate chaos. Shareholder resolutions calling for decarbonization must be supported on the inside and on the outside of the AGM – we cannot let BlackRock’s fossil-fueled investments go unchecked!
This year, protesting BlackRock’s AGM will be particularly exciting, as CODEPINK’s War Is Not Green team has submitted a resolution which will be going to a vote. Imploring BlackRock to issue a climate impact report on its military investments, our resolution is crucial and timely – and has already received a stamp of disapproval from BlackRock’s Board of Directors! Come rally in support of the War Profiteers’ Climate Report and join WING campaigner Teddy Ogborn as they call into the AGM to defend the resolution!
