CODEPINK applaud’s the decision by AXA Investment Managers to sell its shares in Elbit Systems on December 31, 2018 based on Elbit’s production of cluster munitions and white phosphorus shells, both used against Palestinian civilian populations and condemned by international law. We urge AXA to be a leader for peace by taking further steps to divest all it’s holdings via subsidiaries from Elbit and all companies complicit in violations of international law and human rights.
It’s crucial that civil society organizations continue to build campaigns that pressure banks and companies to end their involvement with Israeli apartheid.
The Stop Elbit campaign is part of CODEPINK flagship Divest from the War Machine campaign urging companies, institutions, and elected officials to divest from weapons companies.
Elbit Systems is Israel’s largest weapons’ company and has helped make Israel the world’s leading exporter of military and surveillance drones. Elbit’s weaponized drones have been involved in all of Israel’s major offensives on Gaza. Elbit provides surveillance technology for Israel’s separation wall in the West Bank and to militarize the U.S.-Mexico border through contracts with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
