The DNC has refused a simple request to allow a Palestinian American to speak from the stage at the DNC, so last night we joined the Uncommitted and Ceasefire delegates in their unprecedented sit-in outside the convention center. Together, we’re demanding that the U.S. stop sending bombs to slaughter Palestinian families and that Palestinian voices be heard and treated as equal within the Democratic Party. On Wednesday night during the Democratic National Convention, DNC organizers refused to have a Palestinian-American speak from the stage. This is unacceptable. The impact of the war on Gaza — fueled by U.S. made and funded bombs – on Palestinians and Palestinian Americans is urgent and deserves attention on any main stage.
The DNC has chosen to shut down our voices in an anti-democratic way — claiming there is not one Palestinian speaker they can vet to speak. Meanwhile, the DNC gave a platform to anti-choice Republicans and corporate executives to speak from its stage. This is beyond disgusting!
We are calling on the Democratic leadership to #LetPalestineSpeak at the DNC and create space for a conversation about how we move toward a ceasefire and an arms embargo.
