Earth’s Greatest Enemy by Abby Martin reveals a hidden truth rarely questioned in mainstream reporting: the role of the U.S. military as the world’s largest institutional polluter, tracing the link between war, empire, and ecological destruction. Provocative, urgent, and eye-opening, this documentary will change how you see both the military and environmentalism.
Aftertalk: We will take a look at the runaway militarism also endorsed by Dutch and EU politics. Together with decolonial climate justice public speaker Chihiro Geuzebroek and a representative from VeTO (Verzet Tegen Oorlog), we discuss how people act against Earth’s greatest enemy: the industrial military complex in the Dutch context.
About the speakers:
Chihiro Geuzebroek is a decolonial climate justice singer-songwriter and co-founder of Stichting Aralez. She previously made the climate justice feature documentary Radical Friends (2014) and was active in Code Rood and Fossil Free Culture. She worked at Greenpeace on global campaigns against the oil industry and is currently working on her first album with songs about making peace in a militarised world.
VeTO is an association of various organizations opposing the imperialist war machine, NATO, and militarism. They identify as internationalists standing with the resistance of people worldwide who are fighting against these forces. They have been an organizing force against the yearly arms fair, NEDS, at Ahoy Rotterdam.
