UCLA is hosting an event, “The Future of Journalism,” on February 27th, 2026, as part of the Daniel Pearl Memorial Lecture series, which will include Bari Weiss. UCLA needs to understand that Bari Weiss is a mouthpiece for the rich and powerful people who are tearing this world apart.
She’s been promoted to her position precisely because she diminishes the voices of the oppressed and panders to oligarchs. Her journalism has never been comprehensive, as she heavily influences the output of her outlet, The Free Press, and more recently, CBS News, with her conservative political views.
Daniel Pearl was a journalist who was recognized for his courage and commitment to truth. Bari Weiss is not a journalist but an opinion writer who is being asked to speak to the future of journalism while censoring a 60-minute segment and serving as a mouthpiece for the White House instead of investigating its crimes.
