Dear Activists,
Still looking for a holiday present for a loved one? Tired of sitting at your computer reading depressing news? Ready for some activism that gets you out into the real world and revives your spirit? Events in Washington, DC
March 5-6: 2016 Summit on Saudi Arabia
CODEPINK, along with The Nation Magazine, Institute for Policy Studies, Peace Action, and many other organizations, is hosting a two-day summit on Saudi Arabia and U.S.-Saudi ties. We will be addressing issues such as human rights, Saudi foreign policy, Saudi-U.S. ties, and the prospects for change inside the kingdom and in U.S.-Saudi relations.
We are bringing together human rights advocates, diplomats, scholars and authors, and other experts, as well as grassroots activists, for this international summit on the Kingdom. Join us in Washington DC for this important event!
April 11: Democracy Spring Civil Disobedience
Join the CODEPINK civil disobedience contingent (including CODEPINK co-founders Jodie Evans and Medea Benjamin) at the Democracy Spring action to get money out of politics! We’ll be marching from Philadelphia to Washington DC, then participating in an act of civil disobedience to force the government to hear our demands. Over 1,000 people have already pledged to engage in civil disobedience at this action. Sign up now to participate or to play a supportive role now!
May 8: Mother's Day at the White House (details coming soon, mark your calendar!)
Did you know that the original call for Mothers Day in 1865 was to bring women together to talk about how to end war? With the horrible escalation of violence in the Middle East and beyond—coupled with Islamophobia, immigrant-bashing, police brutality and gun violence at home—it's time to bring women (and male allies) together to echo the original call of "Disarm, disarm." Join us in a 24-hour vigil outside the White House, with song, dance, art, poetry, food and political actions. It's a great way to bond with your mom, your kids and/or other peace-loving folks.
We hope you’ll join us at these upcoming exciting opportunities,
Alli, Andrea, Ariel, Chelsea, Janet, Janna, Jodie, Lisa, Medea, Michaela, Michelle, Nancy and Tighe
