Cut US Ties to Saudi Arabia: Weekly Demonstration for Human Rights

Join us EVERY TUESDAY from 3:30-4:30pm for an hour-long demonstration to demand that the US end the alliance with Saudi Arabia!

The U.S. has spent billions of dollars in the last four decades backing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, an absolute monarchy that opposes religious freedom, female equality and humane treatment of migrant workers. In January 2016 alone, the Saudi government beheaded 47 people, some of whom were guilty of such “crimes” as political activism. Between March 2015-2016, Saudi Arabia massacred over 6,000 people in a war of aggression against Yemen, and at least half of them were civilians.

CODEPINK has held weekly demonstrations calling for the release of human rights prisoners - namely, three Saudi teens who have been imprisoned and face execution for their peaceful political dissent.

It’s time for the US to reevaluate the toxic relationship with Saudi Arabia!

WE NEED 13 PEOPLE FOR THE FLASH CARDS AND BANNER. We have never had more than 11 people, so we have to try hard to get 13. While it is true that one person can hold two signs, the flipping will not look good on the video because it will be done on cue for simultaneous display. A person can quickly flip one sign, but not two. It will look bad on the video for a clumsy presentation. And we will be flipping back and forth. Actually, we need 14 people, one to take videos.

HOW CAN WE GET 14 PEOPLE OUT WEDNESDAY? Who can join us Can you??

Activists will display banner and signs for the release of 28 suppressed pages of a Congressional report implicating Saudi Arabian government in the 9/11 attacks. When: Wed., June 15 at 5 PM

Where: Between Russell and Hart Senate Office Buildings, corner of Constitution Ave. and First St., N.E.

“Now that the Senate has unanimously passed the Justice Against Support of Terrorism Act (JASTA), the Obama administration is now obliged to release the information it has about Saudi involvement including the 28 pages" stated Barry Kissin, a 28 Pages Coalition spokesperson. As of now, 69 members of Congress are co-sponsoring bills to declassify these redacted pages: H.R.14 and S-1471. Former chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee, Bob Graham has called the redaction of the 28 pages part of “an aggressive deception,” “ worse than a cover-up” and has stated that “FBI statements are untrue.” The Coalition will hold a banner saying: “Open the 28 Pages.” Placards will say: “Royal Threats Show Saudi Guilt”, “Tail Wags Dog?”, “Immunity for Royal Terrorists is not Security”, “9/11 Families say ‘Open 28 Pages’”, “Justice Delayed is Justice Denied” and “Support HR-14 and S-1471.”

Endorsed by CODE PINK and Popular Resistance.
