I am in awe of your courage for speaking out — for so clearly naming the wrongs that were done to you and so passionately asserting your equal claim to human dignity. And I am filled with furious anger — both that this happened to you and that our culture is still so broken that you were ever put in the position of defending your own worth.” – Vice President Joe Biden to Stanford Rape Victim

Daily Practice: What can you see in your community this weekend that needs you to speak out? What violence against someone do you walk past and not notice? This week not only did justice happen in a letter from a victim – because the justice system had failed – but it delivered a wake-up call. What is failing in your community that you continue to let erode that which is beautiful and human? There are many people in your local peace economy, giving, sharing and caring for those who have been denied their self-worth. Can you give time, effort or coin to end violence in your own community?
