Venezuela/Latin America Coordinator

Are you concerned with what is happening in Venezuela, Cuba, Honduras, Columbia and across Latin America? Do you want to engage in effective activism and raise awareness to keep violence from spreading across Latin America. Do you want to build a stronger voice for the movements in Latin American and their influence in the swamp in DC? Can you think fast, strategize, organize, articulate and inspire? This position is for you.

CODEPINK is a small kick ass group of activists who infiltrate the war machine to bring messages of peace and diplomacy. We are looking for someone to help us refine and tell our stories of campaigning peace and an end to all wars. We are part of a coalition of 100 organizations that expose the destruction caused by the war machine. We focus specifically on the areas of Yemen, Syria, Gaza, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Venezuela, Honduras, Columbia, Cuba, boycotting and divesting from weapons companies, demilitarizing our streets and borders, and more.

Duties and Responsibilities (half-time job)

  • Work on bills in Congress aimed at preventing US intervention in Venezuela
  • Act as a liaison with other groups/coalitions working on Venezuela
  • Organize events/actions in the DC area
  • Help publicize and organize events outside DC
  • Write press releases and alerts
  • Support our social media team
  • Set up webinars with various experts

If full-time:

  • Work on bills in Congress supporting human rights in Latin America and opposing intervention in Latin America
  • Act as a liaison with other groups/coalitions working on Latin America, particularly Brazil, Colombia and Honduras
  • Help organize CODEPINK delegations to Honduras, Cuba, and possibly other Latin American countries
  • Help organize relevant events in US, especially Washington DC and NYC

Qualifications

  • Knowledge about Latin America
  • Excellent communications and social media skills
  • Passionate about non-intervention and preventing war
  • Spanish (a plus but not essential)
