On January 3, 2026, the Trump regime carried out a dramatic escalation in its assault on Venezuela, launching military strikes and abducting Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, forcibly removing them from their country in what amounts to an illegal act of aggression and de facto regime-change operation. This reckless use of military force violates international law, endangers civilians, and pushes our hemisphere closer to a catastrophic war.
This toolkit will help you outline your demands, suggest first steps for a response plan locally, give you tools to organize an action of your own, and give you talking points and graphics. The Trump administration is continuing military actions against Venezuela without clear congressional authorization, including large-scale strikes and a raid that resulted in the capture and removal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores to the United States to face charges, a move that has raised widespread legal and constitutional concerns at home and abroad; Congress must act now to prevent an illegal and catastrophic war in our hemisphere. Look Beyond the War Propaganda
One of the most powerful institutions making war possible is the mainstream media. We saw it in 2003, when outlets like the New York Times repeated Bush administration lies that paved the way for the Iraq invasion. That same danger is here again: U.S. strikes in the Caribbean are being packaged as “drug enforcement,” while the deeper issues of legality, sovereignty, and humanitarian impact are sidelined.
To resist this, we must choose our sources carefully.
Instead of relying on outlets that echo Pentagon talking points, look for independent and international media that include Venezuelan voices, question the legality of U.S. actions, and expose the humanitarian costs of sanctions and militarization.
