Join us as Columbia County for Palestine presents Killing the Messengers: Israel's Attacks on Palestinian Journalists, and U.S. Complicity. A screening of the documentary film The Killing of Shireen Abu Akleh (Al Jazeera, 2022) and two short films about Palestinian journalists in Gaza will be followed by a discussion with award-winning independent journalist Kavitha Chekuru, the director of The Killing of Shireen Abu Akleh, and Shahd Safi, a freelance journalist originally from Gaza.
The program will focus on Israel's unprecedented killing of Palestinian journalists, from Shireen Abu Akleh in the West Bank in 2022 to over 240 journalists in Gaza over the past two years, according to the UN.
About the Speakers:
Speakers Kavitha Chekuru and Shahd Safi bring a depth of experience to the discussion of Israel's attempt to silence the voices of Palestinians.
